Bootstrap Studio Review: A One-Stop Shop in the Design of Website Prototypes

If you want to create a fabulous website with all the bells and whistles, quick loading time, and appealing interactive graphics but don’t know much about coding, then you should consider a web editor framework that will walk you through the process.

There are several good web editor options available these days for you to choose from. Bootstrap Studio is a simple way to create good-looking websites in less time than you thought possible. Take a look at our Bootstrap Studio review.

What Is Bootstrap Studio?

Bootstrap Studio is a desktop app built to work with the Bootstrap framework created to help you design and prototype websites. It has templates and widgets that you can use to assemble responsive web pages including headers, footers, galleries, slideshows, spans, and divs.

Components that aren’t available in the customizable templates can often be found in an online open source library. You can also create your own and make them available for other users as well. CSS, SASS, JavaScript and HTML codes can be imported and edited within the platform.

Linked components allow you to edit things like headers consistently across your website. Preview lets you see how your web page looks on multiple devices such as laptops, tablets, and phones.

Your website design will be ready in no time with these easy to assemble elements.

Bootstrap Studio Specifications

Bootstrap is the third-most-starred project on GitHub. It was initially named Twitter Blueprint and designed by Twitter employees Mark Otto and Jacob Thornton to reduce the inconsistencies of interface development. Bootstrap Studio is currently in version 4.4.9

You don’t have to start from scratch with your next website design with Bootstrap Studio. You can create customized plugins by dragging and dropping components that have already been developed.

Bootstrap Studio provides tutorials on their website to help newbies. Software updates are automatically applied to your web design.

Bootstrap Studio Pricing

Bootstrap Studio is available entirely online with no monthly payments, fees or usage limits. The platform is conveniently accessible through a Standard package or Lifetime package. The standard plan has a one-time cost of $29. It’s ideal for designers, developers and those just learning the ropes of web development.

Both packages run on Win 7+, macOS, and Linux and can be installed on three separate computers. The Standard license includes free web hosting, forms and one year of upgrades free. The Lifetime package includes everything in the Standard package plus free upgrades indefinitely for a one-time fee of $60.

Students and teachers can get all the apps available with Creative Cloud including Dreamweaver for the same price as the individual plan, which is a 60% savings.

Dreamweaver is compatible with Mac and Windows Operating Systems. It can be used with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, ASP, ColdFusion, PHP, and Scriptlet. It uses Live View, which lets you visualize the coding, as well as a code editor which has syntax highlighting, code collapsing, code completion, and syntax checking to help you.

Dreamweaver is available in Turkish, Brazilian Portuguese, Swedish, Chinese, Spanish, Czech, Russian, Dutch, English, Polish, French, German, Italian, and Japanese. Korean is available on Windows only. Some older versions are also compatible with Arabic, Persian, Urdu, and Hebrew.

Although Dreamweaver assists, you need to know something about coding to get the best results although there are some templates you can use. There are fewer drag and drop components, so designing often takes longer.

Foundation framework is highly customizable. Each website design starts with the smallest device as the premise allowing you to build up to a full-size computer in responsiveness. It’s an open-source site and free to use.

Bootstrap Studios vs. Foundation

Foundation allows you to create a website for mobile devices first then layer over it for larger screens like tablets and laptops so that each size is fully responsive. The website you build with Foundation use code snippets with ARIA attributes with detailed information on how to use them.

Foundation sponsors utility libraries to help you create the perfect plugin for your site. You can easily modify completely customizable templates and create personalized animation. Building block components are available that you can pop in to save time.

The platform also supports languages that read right-to-left for developers who use other dialects regularly. Features unique to Foundation include an icon bar, clearing lightbox, flex video, keystrokes, joyride and pricing tables. Foundation also supports IE9+ which the current version of Bootstrap does not.

Both Bootstrap and Foundation use SASS and mixins, have a grid system and support up to 12 columns. Foundation is not a great choice for beginners. While it is not as complex as Dreamweaver, it requires more coding know-how than Bootstrap. On the other hand, Foundation is free to use.

In our Bootstrap Studio review, we mentioned that it has several desirable components designed to make your web designing easier. The drag and drop option and customizable templates allow even beginners to create a high-quality, responsive webpage prototype.

In comparison to Adobe Dreamweaver and Pinegrow Web Editor, Bootstrap Studio is less expensive and easier to use. Foundation is a free, open-source platform but is slightly more complicated than Bootstrap although it is more customizable.

There are some drawbacks to using Bootstrap Studio, one being the inability to export to WordPress. If you host your site through WordPress, you’ll have to do some conversion for the design to work. Another drawback is that it is only available in English at the moment.

Bootstrap Studio seems to have quite a few bugs as well. The good thing is that a large number of users the framework has ensured that issues are identified and fixed quickly.

So if you wish to design websites without a lot of detailing coding processes, we believe that Bootstrap Studio would be a good investment. Our rating is a solid 4 stars.
