This article is a list of free fonts that are quite varied in style but share a Retro feel to them. ‘Retro’ encompasses so many different styles and the word means different things to different designers so this is an rather an eclectic mix of of typography. Published as part of our web designer freebies section, some of the fonts in this list are very obviously suited to a particular era such as the 1920’s or 1980’s whilst others are less associated with a particular decade and more liked to a particular style such as Art Deco or Vintage.
The list is long so hopefully you will find one or two fonts that suit your needs. All the links are free to download but please double check the licensing agreements for commercial use if you plan to use them for client work or your own business. Most of the designers will be fine with commercial use but you should always check.
